Transferring texts from iPhone to Android

Planning on switching from iPhone to Android? No need to jump the gun and purchase

expensive recovery software like TransPhone or iPhone Data Recovery. Manually

transferring all of your text messages to your new Android device is completely free

and easier than youd expect.
The process does take a few steps, but its nothing complicated. If you have the

brains to navigate through your computers file system (such as Finder or Windows

Explorer), you should be good to go.
Note: You do not have to own both devices at the same time. Just complete step 1 and

(most of) iphne data transfer 2 while you still have your iPhone, and the last part of step 2, along with

steps 3 and 4 once youve picked up your android transfer Android device.
Backup your iPhone and locate the backup file.
Connect your iPhone to your computer. Choose File > Devices > Back Up.
Depending on your version of iTunes, you may have to right-click the device from the

list and select Backup Now. You can also automatically backup your iPhone by syncing

the device with iTunes.
Find the text messaging backup file on your computer.
Youre going to have to do a little digging to find the correct backup file.
If youre running Windows, the file will be inside /users/

(username)/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/Mobile SyncThe quickest way to find this file is by copy/pasting the file name into your file system search bar.
Once youve located the text messaging file, move this file to your new Android
device (either on the internal storage or SD card, doesnt matter).
Install MobileTransf on your Android phone, open the app and choose Select iPhone SMS Database. Find the text messaging backup file you transferred over to your Android device.
Make sure you click All Text Messages on the next screen to ensure all your texts
are converted and saved as an XML file.
smsbackupDownload SMS Backup & Restore from Google Play Install SMS Backup & Restore on your Android phone, open the app and choose Restore. Locate the XML file created by MobileTransf.
Choose Restore All Messages, and once the process completes you should have all your iPhone text messages on your Android smartphone!
